October/ November Plein Air Painting Classes 2019
I love studying nature through paint. I’m offering plein air classes on Friday mornings. In these classes you will learn how to organise what you see and experience in nature. You will also learn drawing and painting methods to develop your outdoor painting skills. Each week you will receive appropriate notes for the upcoming class, as well as location details. This course is for anyone who wants to draw and paint outside.
The Beginner – If you are a beginner you may want to start with drawing in nature. You will receive exercises that help you look in new ways and explore your surroundings with drawing media.
For the Intermediate Painter, you will be working in oil paint. We will work in black and white and take our time to understand the process of painting in nature. This course will cover how to simplify what you see through shapes, planes and tones to create a sense of space and light.
For the Advanced Painter, you will have the opportunity to explore different limited palettes, consider marks, edges and composition. A good foundation in understanding tone is assumed.
Friday October 4th – Friday November 22nd
Time: 9am- 12pm – Each class is 3 hours long.
Venue: Different locations around McLaren Vale
Cost: $400 for 8 weeks. This class runs for 8 consecutive weeks.
Or you can register for 6 weeks at $300 and miss any 2 weeks. If you decide that you want to attend another class, you can do so at $50/ class.
Classes are usually small, with ample time to learn. Upon registration you will receive a materials list and more information. I have some basic plein air painting boxes for your to try out until you can bring your own. Send me an email if you are interested.
